| Inspired by the Real-Life Abduction of Brittany Fish Five-year old Brittany Fish was abducted in Syracuse, NY on April 24, 2004, while riding a scooter near her home. Police and volunteers scoured the neighborhood looking for the missing five-year old but found only her discarded scooter.
Nearly twenty-four hours later, Brittany was found alive. She was discovered under a tarp in an abandoned warehouse, bound in duct tape.
One year later, 32-year-old Kevin Schaus of Syracuse was picked up by Onondaga County sheriff’s deputies for questioning in another case. While being interviewed Schaus confessed to abducting Brittany.
Where’s My Puppy? was authored by Brittany’s Aunt, Linda Slifka, in hopes that the story might keep other children safe from harm.
